In Odesa region, a 43-year-old drunken man fired a shotgun through the window of his friend's house, for which he faces up to 7 years in prison for hooliganism.

Law enforcement officers served a notice of suspicion to a 43-year-old man who drunkenly fired a shotgun through the window of his friend's house in a village in Odesa Oblast. Now he  faces up to 7 years in prison for hooliganism. UNN reports this with reference to the regional police. 

Details 

The incident reportedly occurred a few days ago in a village in the Nerubay community.  A 43-year-old local man came to his friend's house drunk in the evening and started calling him. The owner of the house came out into the yard, but when he saw through the gate that the guest was holding a hunting shotgun, he refused to come out to him. This angered the man, and he fired in the direction of the fellow villager's yard, hitting the window of his house. 

Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the shooting. 

Law enforcement officers  detained the offender near the scene of the crime and seized a registered hunting shotgun belonging to him, and a shell casing from the scene of the shooting. It was sent for examination along with the weapon.

The man explained that he had come to his fellow villager to talk, but did not recall what it was about.

He was served a notice of suspicion of hooliganism, accompanied by particular audacity, committed with the use of firearms. This crime is classified under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and is punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to seven years. 

The court imposed on the suspect a measure of restraint in the form of nightly house arrest.
