City services do not stop eliminating the consequences of the pollution of Lake Kyrylivske, which occurred after the Russian attack on July 2
In particular, according to available data, the following work is currently being carried out:
- over 500 kg of sorbent has been used to collect
petroleum products from the water surface;
- the specialized amphibious vehicle Mobitrac has begun
removing contaminated reeds that have absorbed the oil-containing emulsion;
- rescuers of the State Emergency Service are continuously working with three
skimmers, pumping out the oil-water emulsion;
- the utility company "Pleso" takes water samples weekly and
monitors the condition of Lakes Kyrylivske and Yordanske.
Scientists from the Institute of Hydrobiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine have joined the work, studying the water, bottom sediments, vegetation, and fauna to determine further steps for restoring the ecosystem.
Now the work is already transitioning from emergency response to systematic restoration of the reservoir. The goal is not only to remove the consequences of pollution but also to return a healthy ecosystem to the lake
Until all work is completed and the results of laboratory tests are obtained, local residents are asked not to come into contact with the water, not to fish, and not to stay near the polluted areas of the lake.
