A family doctor from Dnipro organized a scheme to embezzle budget funds through the electronic prescription system. Over two years, more than 1600 fake prescriptions were created, causing the state losses of more than a million hryvnias.
In Dnipro, a family doctor issued 1,600 e-prescriptions to non-existent patients, causing the state losses of more than a million hryvnias. This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office on Thursday, UNN reports.

The Prosecutor General's Office has served suspicion notices to four members of an organized group involved in a scheme to embezzle budget funds through the electronic prescription system.
The scheme was developed two years ago by a family doctor from Dnipro. The suspects created fake patient accounts in the HELSI electronic medical system using fictitious personal data and data of deceased persons. Later, they issued electronic prescriptions for medicines to the "patients".
After that, they searched for pharmacists, managers of pharmacy chains and pharmacy outlets to "redeem" prescriptions and receive money as compensation under the state program "Affordable Medicines". Over two years, the suspects created more than 1,600 electronic prescriptions.
They are charged with fraud committed on a particularly large scale and unauthorized actions with information processed in electronic computers and automated systems.
The issue of revoking the licenses of the pharmacies involved has also been initiated.
