Generals should be in the trenches: Zelenskyy on new approaches to managing the Armed Forces
Kyiv • UNN
The President stated the need to reduce bureaucracy in the army and bring generals closer to soldiers in the trenches.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the changes in approaches to management in the Armed Forces, which are outlined in the second paragraph of Ukraine's internal stability plan, and said that, among other things, they consist in reducing bureaucracy in the army. He said this during the III International Conference on Food Security Grain From Ukraine, UNN reports with reference to Suspilne.
According to the Head of State, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi has a "main task" to reduce bureaucracy in the army.
"And this is very important. An officer must see a soldier. For me, a general who has not been in a trench is not a general, despite his experience. With all due respect, today the most difficult situation is on the front line, in the trenches. Generals should be in the trenches. This is the war," Zelensky said.
The President emphasized that "the morale of the military is the most important thing.
"And if, but this is up to the military to decide, if the transition to the corps-brigade system, which they propose today, means reducing this distance from the general to the soldier, if this bureaucracy is reduced, let them do so," the President summarized.
