The autumn-winter period of 2024/2025 became the most difficult for the energy sector of Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia. This was stated by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko at a briefing, reports the correspondent of UNN.
I would very much like everyone to clearly understand that the availability of light is actually a huge work and a huge feat of every energy worker. And of course, we are grateful, of course, for the powerful work against the air defense of our Armed Forces, because of course, without this we would not have achieved our results either, but we just need to understand that those actions or the work that was actually carried out by workers or workers who are in the energy system, in fact, they ensured the possibility of stable functioning of the energy system. And accordingly, providing both light and heat to our citizens
In particular, over three years of full-scale war, more than 63,000 energy infrastructure facilities were damaged, and in 2024 alone, massive strikes and daily targeted shelling led to the loss of about 10 GW of generating capacity.
During the heating season from November 17, 2024 to March 2025, Ukraine's energy infrastructure suffered 9 massive attacks. The most powerful was the attack on December 13, when more than 300 means of destruction simultaneously attacked energy infrastructure facilities.
