Former head of the State Reserve is suspected in a scheme involving shadow leasing of state warehouses for 36 million UAH

NABU has uncovered a scheme to embezzle 36 million UAH through the shadow leasing of State Reserve warehouses. The suspects include the former head of the agency and an organizer.
NABU and SAP have exposed a large-scale scheme involving the shadow leasing of state warehouses, which caused the state to lose approximately 36 million hryvnias. Among the suspects are former officials of the State Reserve and the management of a state-owned enterprise, as well as the organizer and his accomplices. This was reported by the NABU press service, according to UNN.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office have exposed a large-scale corruption scheme to embezzle funds from a state enterprise under the management of the State Agency for Management of State Reserves of Ukraine
Among the suspects are: a former head of the State Reserve, a former deputy director of the state enterprise, the organizer of the scheme, and an individual accomplice.
In the fall of 2022, the suspects developed a plan to embezzle funds from the state enterprise generated from providing warehousing services. Starting in January 2023, officials of the state enterprise, under the guise of storage services, transferred significant warehouse space to controlled private companies.
These companies subsequently leased the state-owned space to real businesses. The money received for this was converted into cash and ended up in the pockets of the scheme participants.
To cover up the crime and create the appearance of legal activity, the state enterprise officials entered into fictitious contracts with the controlled firms. Deliberately false information was entered into the acceptance-transfer certificates: on paper, the area of the leased premises was significantly smaller than what was actually used.
The amount of damages is approximately 36 million UAH.
The organizer of the scheme was detained while attempting to cross the state border. The court ordered a preventive measure in the form of detention.
