Ex-prosecutor of the SAP stated that the smuggling of draft evaders was handled by a "long-timer" of the NABU who worked on the customs line

The NABU detective recently exposed for smuggling draft evaders abroad turned out to be a Bureau "old-timer" who oversaw customs. A listening device was recently found in the home of his supervisor, so the exposure of the NABU officer was only a matter of time. This was reported by former SAP prosecutor Stanislav Bronevytskyi.

"According to information from law enforcement sources, the detective involved in transporting people across the border was an 'old-timer' who worked on the customs line. It is no coincidence that this detective worked in the third Main Detective Unit, whose head recently had listening devices found in his home," he wrote.

According to the former SAP prosecutor, these are all links in one chain.

"I recall pointing out that no one would now install equipment without legal grounds. The grounds are now clear. The NABU Internal Control Department, by the way, has nothing to do with recording and detecting the mentioned facts," he noted.

The NABU leadership, he emphasized, understood that a lot could have been 'overheard and overseen' regarding their employees. Accordingly, they decided to play ahead of the curve and allegedly independently uncover the facts of transporting people across the border, he noted.

"Because it is one thing when the SBU reports this during an arrest, and quite another to tell that they allegedly independently discovered such facts," Bronevytskyi stated.

As previously reported, a NABU detective was exposed for illegally smuggling people abroad. A pre-trial and internal investigation has been launched. For the duration of the internal investigation, the NABU employee has been suspended from performing his official duties.
