Kyiv • UNN
The eU is preparing a 14th package of sanctions against russia, with a focus on anti-sanctions circumvention measures in the maritime sector and against western subsidiaries that help evade sanctions, due in the spring.
In the EU began preparing the 14th package of sanctions against russia, which should be adopted in the spring. This was announced by European Commission Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis, reports UNN.
"We have begun preparations for the 14th sanctions package, which is due in the spring. It will probably include an extensive list of restrictive measures with a strong anti-circumvention focus - for example, in the maritime sector, as Russia continues to try to breach the price cap on its oil exports," Dombrovskis said.
He added that the EU is also looking at how to stop sanctions being circumvented through Western subsidiaries operating in countries outside Europe.
"From an EU perspective, EU parent companies that retain influence over the business operations of their foreign subsidiaries can be held liable for the operations carried out by those subsidiaries," Dombrovskis said.
He said the EU will continue to put pressure on Russia and those who support it on the battlefield, wherever they are.
"We will continue to pursue Putin's henchmen. And we will continue to pursue those who help Russia circumvent sanctions or replenish its military arsenal," Dombrovskis said.
