A gas explosion occurred in the city of Petare, east of Caracas. Eight people were killed, including two infants, and 22 were injured. The accident was caused by a gas leak followed by an explosion of a gas cylinder.
At least eight people were killed and 22 others were injured in a gas explosion in a city east of the Venezuelan capital Caracas, a government official said. This is reported by Xinhua news agency, UNN reports.

"Unfortunately, eight people have died, including two infants. We extend our deepest condolences and solidarity to their families," Miranda State Governor Hector Rodriguez wrote on social media.
Those injured in the explosion in Petare were taken to hospitals for treatment, Rodriguez said.
Earlier, the governor said that the accident was caused by a "gas leak followed by an explosion of the cylinder.
