Ukrainian court sets December 29 as the deadline for familiarization with documents in the case of forgery of documents by a Ukrainian MP

The court has limited the timeframe for familiarization with the case file on suspicion of a Member of Parliament of forging documents for traveling abroad until December 29, the State Bureau of Investigation said on Wednesday, UNN reports.

Details

"The court has limited the timeframe for familiarization with the materials of the criminal proceedings on suspicion of a people's deputy of forgery for traveling abroad. The judge thus granted the motion of the State Bureau of Investigation investigator to set a deadline for the defense - the suspect and his defense lawyers - until December 29, 2023," the statement said.

As indicated, during the court hearing, it was established that "the suspect and his defense lawyers deliberately delayed familiarization with the materials of the criminal proceedings in order to artificially delay the transfer of the indictment to the court."

On November 11, 2023, SBI officers completed a pre-trial investigation against a Member of Parliament of Ukraine suspected of forgery for traveling abroad (part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The Prosecutor General served the MP with a notice of suspicion on August 8, 2023.

"The SBI, together with the SBU, found that the MP had entered false information in official documents on the basis of which he traveled abroad. In his application for permission to leave, he indicated the reason for his departure was to accompany his father for treatment, but in fact he went on vacation. In addition, the MP and his father went abroad separately, and the father returned to Ukraine much earlier than the MP," the Bureau reminded.

The SBI reportedly received information that during his stay abroad, the MP managed to visit Italy, Croatia and Spain twice. In particular, in Spain, the suspect stayed in two hotels in Barcelona and its suburbs. [On August 3, the State Bureau of Investigation, together with the Security Service of Ukraine, conducted searches

at the home of MP Oleksandr Dubinskyi, who went abroad during the war, allegedly under the pretext of accompanying his father for medical treatment.
