Ukrainian border guards detain an average of 20-25 violators for illegal border crossing every day, and the number of such attempts has decreased recently, partly due to weather conditions.

Border guards record a decrease in cases of illegal border crossing. In general, border guards detain an average of about 20-25 offenders per day, said Andriy Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, during a telethon, a UNN correspondent reports.

According to Demchenko, border guards have recently recorded a decrease in cases of illegal border crossing. He notes that weather conditions contribute to this.

"For example, in October, compared to September, attempts to violate the state border were reduced by 11%, and in November we also recorded a certain decrease. Unfortunately, such attempts continue," said Demchenko.

The spokesman notes that border guards have repeatedly found the bodies of those who planned to cross the state border in mountainous areas and across rivers.

In general, we are currently detaining about 20-25 violators per day. This is along the "green section" of the border (outside the checkpoint - ed.), as well as at checkpoints, when people try to use forged documents or bribe SBGS inspectors

- added Demchenko.

In addition, he noted that last year the number of cases of illegal border crossing was much higher.

"Back then, groups, several groups, could be detained per day, but the total number per day fluctuated somewhere around 80-90 offenders who were detained directly on the state border line," Demchenko summarized.
