The director of a social service center in the Vinnytsia region has been served with a notice of suspicion following the death of a child from starvation. A link has been established between her negligence and the death of the 10-year-old boy.

In the case regarding the death of a 10-year-old boy with a disability from starvation, the director of the city territorial center for social services has been served with a notice of suspicion. This was reported by Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, who emphasized that in this case, everyone who had a duty to protect the child but failed to do so will be held accountable, UNN reports.
I have already written about this case. And I will repeat it once more: this should not have happened. The death of a child from hunger in the 21st century is not just a tragedy. It is a failure of all adults and all services that should have seen, reacted, and saved him. The 10-year-old boy with a disability in the Vinnytsia region did not die suddenly. His condition deteriorated gradually. This was seen. This was known, yet the child was not saved,
According to the Prosecutor General, following the completion of forensic examinations, the director of the city territorial center for social services has been served with a notice of suspicion. She is the final suspect in the case.
He emphasized that it was under the leadership of the director of the city territorial center that social support for the family, which was in difficult life circumstances, should have been carried out. According to the investigation, a direct causal link has been established between her inaction and the child's death.
In this case, everyone who had a duty to protect the child but failed to do so will be held accountable. Among the suspects are: the boy's mother, a leading specialist of the social protection service, a family doctor, and the director of the social service center. All responsible adults knew the conditions the child was in. Everyone saw that his condition was rapidly deteriorating. But instead of real help, there was indifference, formality, and inaction,
Kravchenko added that the child's mother has already been sentenced to three years of imprisonment; prosecutors consider this punishment unacceptably lenient and are appealing the verdict.
This case is about responsibility. Not formal. Not "for the sake of a checkmark." But real responsibility for the life of a child who could have been saved. The investigation is ongoing. Everyone who should have acted and did not will answer before the law. We continue our work,
As a reminder
In December 2025, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko reported that a 10-year-old boy with a disability died of hunger in the Vinnytsia region; the child's mother has already received a notice of suspicion, as have officials—a social service worker and a family doctor.
