Cyberattack on the Ministry of Justice or large-scale failure? What public services are temporarily unavailable
Kyiv • UNN
The occupiers have allegedly attacked the digital databases of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, which has left many state registries inoperable. The ministry claims a large-scale failure at the level of the network infrastructure serving the registries.
The occupiers have posted information that they have attacked the digital databases of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. According to MP Oleksandr Fediyenko, as of now, quite a few digital databases are still down, UNN reports.
"Today, the Russians released information that they attacked the digital databases of the Ministry of Justice. As of now, quite a few digital databases of the relevant institution are still down," said the MP.
According to Fediyenko, SBU specialists are working on localizing and restoring the databases. But for now, all digital services that worked through government portals will not work.
"So far, the question remains why the Ministry of Justice did not come out with appropriate communication and instructions to citizens on what to do, it is possible to have paper documents with you at this time, and the conclusion of prenuptial agreements through the action will not work yet. I learned from my own sources that all backups have been saved, and now they are being restored," fedienko summed up.
What do the Ministry of Justice say?
The website of the Ministry of Justice is currently down. However, a statement about a large-scale failure was posted on the ministry's Facebook page.
"We understand how important access to state registers and services is for each of you, and we sincerely apologize for the temporary inconvenience. Unfortunately, we faced a serious problem – a large-scale failure at the level of the network infrastructure serving registries.
We are well aware of how this may affect your plans and business.
We would like to assure you that the team of specialists of the State Enterprise National Information Systems is working in an enhanced mode, making every effort to restore all services as soon as possible. Data security is our top priority!"- the statement reads.
The Ministry noted that work to fix problems at the level of network infrastructure is ongoing, so the Unified and State Registers, the creation and operation of which falls within the competence of the Ministry of Justice, as well as the websites of the Ministry of Justice, the State Enterprise "NAIS" and the call center will be unavailable until the end of the day.
"We understand that every hour of waiting can be critical for your business, so we are doing everything possible to resolve the situation promptly. We will immediately inform you about the resumption of the systems or the time required for the restoration," the agency added.
