Military counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine, with the assistance of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, detained an agent of Russian military intelligence (better known as the GRU) on the Sumy border. He turned out to be a mobilized serviceman who was adjusting enemy fire on units of the Security and Defense Forces in the Kursk direction
According to the information, the defendant was recruited by the occupiers through a Telegram channel, where he published comments in support of the Rashists.
Then he received the task of "integrating" into the Ukrainian army in order to collect intelligence for the Russian Federation. To do this, he first mobilized to a military unit in one of the rear regions of Ukraine, and later transferred to a combat brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which performs tasks in the Kursk region.
While at the front, the agent prepared coordinates for missile and bomb strikes on Ukrainian positions, in particular on radio-electronic warfare (EW) systems that protect our troops from drone attacks, as well as on Ukrainian self-propelled artillery installations.
He transmitted the information to his supervisor in Russia via messenger, providing photos of Ukrainian weapons and their location on maps, as well as text comments.
Military counterintelligence of the SBU exposed the traitor at the very beginning of his cooperation with the occupiers. During this period, comprehensive measures were taken to secure the locations of the Defense Forces and documented every step of the agent. At the final stage of the special operation, the Security Service detained the perpetrator "red-handed" when he was preparing an agent report to the Russian GRU
The perpetrator's phone was seized with an anonymous chat in the messenger in which he contacted the Russian GRU. In addition, he was notified of suspicion under the article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for treason committed under martial law.
The perpetrator is currently in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
