The tremor was recorded at 08.39 local time in Mannai city county of the Haisi Mongolian Tibetan Autonomous Region of Qinghai province, the report said.
It is added that the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometers.
China Central Television notes that the earthquake was "clearly felt" at the site, and there has been no information on casualties or material damage.
