According to central and local officials, as of 15:00 local time in Taiwan, the death toll from Wednesday's earthquake has risen to at least seven people, and 711 people have been injured.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 occurred off the east coast of Taiwan. The entire island was shaken violently, with serious damage reported in Hualien County.
According to the Taiwan Central Meteorological Administration, a total of 127 aftershocks hit Taiwan after the 7.2-magnitude earthquake off the island's coast.
