Pakistan's bombing of Paktika province in Afghanistan killed 46 people, mostly women and children. The Taliban vowed to avenge the attack and defend their sovereignty.
At least 46 people have been killed in a bombing attack by Pakistan in Afghanistan's Paktika province overnight.

Taliban government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said late Tuesday night that Pakistan shelled four areas in Barmal district in eastern Paktika province.

“The total number of dead is 46, most of them children and women,” he said.
The Taliban spokesman added that six other people were injured, mostly children.
Taliban vows revenge.
“The Islamic Emirate will not leave this cowardly act unanswered, and considers the defense of its territory and sovereignty its inalienable right,” the statement said.

The source linked the operation in part to the December 21 attack on the military base and stressed that there is “credible evidence that the Taliban regime is facilitating the transit of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants across the border to carry out attacks in Pakistan.
