The military department noted that the accident occurred at the 22nd Helicopter Aviation Base in the city of Náměšť nad Oslavou. The aircraft that crashed was a UH-1Y Venom military helicopter.

"In this extremely difficult time, we express our deepest and most sincere condolences to the family, loved ones, friends, and colleagues of the deceased," the armed forces said in a statement. "Our main priority now is to provide all possible assistance and support to the wounded servicemen and their loved ones."

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Until its completion, all H-1 military helicopters have temporarily suspended flights, the armed forces reported.

Czech Defense Minister Jaromír Zuna called the event a "huge tragedy" and stated that it "deeply affected everyone."

"Emergency services and the investigative commission are currently at the scene and are working to establish the circumstances and causes of this incident," he added.
