The UMPB D-30 SN bomb, which Russia used against Kharkiv, has a range of 70-80 km and is launched from Su-34 or Su-35 aircraft, but there is countermeasures.

The approximate range of the UMPB D-30 SN bomb is 70-80 km, but it depends on how close a Russian pilot dares to fly to the contact line. The spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force Command, Ilya Yevlash, said this during a telethon and added that there is counteraction, but it is necessary to work with a carrier, which is the Su-34 or Su-35, UNN reports.

The head of the Kharkiv RMA, Oleg Sinegubov, reported that the new Russian UMPB D-30 guided munitions that were used to shell Kharkiv on March 27 could "completely cover the city of Kharkiv," meaning that they could reach any district of Kharkiv, even the region, depending on which border the launch was from.

When asked if he confirmed this, Yevlash replied: "The D-30 UMPB is a modernized, let's say, high-explosive air bomb that has quite a powerful destructive force... A special device is attached to it, which has a micro-motor, and it becomes something like a missile to some extent. It is launched from a Su-34 or Su-35. Due to the speed of the aircraft, it is then dropped, and then this semi-missile is controlled and can go to a specific target. The approximate range of these bombs is 70-80 kilometers, but it depends on how close the pilot dares to fly to the contact line.

However, he noted that the Russians have already seen the "dry spell" and realize that it may continue.

"There is a way to counter these bombs, but we need to work with the carrier. This will be the most correct and effective in this situation," Yevlash said.

Recall

On March 27, the army of the Russian Federation for the first time since 2022 struck Kharkiv with aircraft bombs. Two hits were recorded - in a secondary school and in the middle of residential buildings.
