According to the publication, Jared Kushner has also arrived in Switzerland, participating in the diplomatic efforts of Donald Trump's administration. At the same time, it remains unknown whether U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, who postponed his trip the day before, will join the negotiations.
Initially, the talks were planned to begin on Friday, but they were postponed due to the hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. After the parties announced a ceasefire, the opportunity to return to the diplomatic process emerged, but a new date for the meeting has not yet been set.
Talks depend on the situation in Lebanon
According to an Axios source in one of the mediating countries, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told his counterparts that a stable ceasefire in Lebanon is a critically important condition for the continuation of U.S.-Iranian talks.
Another source reported that the Iranian side wants to ensure the durability of the truce, so the talks are unlikely to begin before Monday. At the same time, the timeline may change depending on the development of the situation in the Middle East.
Qatar remains one of the key mediators. The country's prime minister has already arrived in Switzerland to participate in diplomatic consultations between the parties.
