Venice earned 28 million euros from tourist tax

Venice has introduced a €5 tourist tax for one-day visitors. During the 29 days of the test project, the city received 2.4 million euros in revenue from more than 485 thousand tourists.

In total, more than 485 thousand tourists had to pay 5 euros of tax during one-day trips to Venice from 8:30 to 16:00.
It concerned people traveling by bus, cruise ship and some tourist groups on weekends and holidays from April 25 to June 14.
In total, this brought the city 2.4 million euros in revenue. This amount corresponds to approximately NOK 28 million at today's exchange rate.
