Finally, I am convinced based on my observations, from an intelligence point of view, that they will fight with their bare hands if they do not have conditions acceptable for a lasting peace.
Answering a question about global threats to US national interests, he also noted that US intelligence continues to see the risk that Russian dictator Putin may resort to the use of nuclear weapons.
Russia's failure to achieve quick and decisive victories on the battlefield, combined with Ukrainian strikes deep into Russia, continues to raise concerns that Putin may use nuclear weapons.
He added that US President Donald Trump, in the context of the Kremlin's maximalist goals, "is aware of the danger of what could happen if Russia gets what it wants."
