The Cabinet of Ministers has lifted restrictions on the import of energy equipment and is stepping up the program to install alternative energy in government agencies. The government is also working to decentralize the power system and increase generation in Chernihiv region.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has eliminated unnecessary restrictions on the import of energy equipment. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, UNN reports.

"We decided to intensify the program of installing alternative energy in administrative buildings, hospitals and schools. We are talking primarily about solar panels on roofs and energy storage installations. This is a task for both ministries and all local leaders. We have to reach a level where the maximum number of hospitals, administrative buildings and schools are autonomous," said Shmyhal.

Shmyhal also said that work is underway to decentralize the power system.

"Ukraine already has a law stating that power equipment is imported free of duty and VAT. Today, we have eliminated unnecessary restrictions on its import. In particular, the customs authorities will no longer need to provide security for the payment of customs duties," said Shmyhal.

In addition, according to him, the Cabinet of Ministers is preparing a project that will increase electricity generation in Chernihiv region by 50 MW.

"This will be a significant additional resource for the region. We are negotiating with partners to secure the necessary funding," said Shmyhal.
