Ukraine demonstrated combat drone control at 2000 km: what the "Wild Hornets" breakthrough means

The Ukrainian Hornet Vision Ctrl system allowed an operator from abroad to control a Sting drone. The the technology provides stable video and low latency.
The Ukrainian manufacturer "Wild Hornets" demonstrated the ability to remotely control a drone at a distance of up to 2000 km thanks to the Hornet Vision Ctrl system. This was reported by Defense Express, writes UNN.
Details
During the demonstration, the operator controlled the Sting anti-aircraft drone while abroad, while the drone itself was in northern Ukraine. At the same time, video transmission remained stable and of high quality.
This is a new stage in the development of the system: back in March, it was about intercepting targets at a distance of about 30-40 km, and in early April, control at a distance of 500 km was recorded.
How it works
The developers do not disclose technical details, but the system is likely based on signal relay using ground stations and the Internet.
A key challenge in such systems is signal delay – the so-called ping, which affects the operator's reaction speed. Presumably, Hornet Vision Ctrl significantly reduces or compensates for this delay.
What this means for the war
The achievement opens up the possibility of controlling drones from a safe distance, even from abroad, which reduces risks for operators.
In addition, it potentially allows one operator to work with several drones at once, switching between different sections of the front or air defense zones.
In combination with artificial intelligence algorithms, such systems can radically change the approach to drone use, making them even more scalable and effective on the battlefield.
