According to preliminary data, a train traveling from Corby to London collided with another train that was heading from Nottingham to St Pancras station. According to media reports, one of the trains stopped due to a malfunction of the safety system.

The exact number of casualties has not yet been announced. At the same time, according to The Times, Bedford Hospital has prepared to receive at least 50 casualties. Rescuers, police, and railway accident investigation specialists are working at the scene. East Midlands Railway train services from St Pancras station have been temporarily suspended.
