Trump's special envoy saw a link between a peace agreement and the issue of Ukraine's NATO membership

The US special envoy stated that Ukraine will not be able to become a member of NATO in the event of a peace agreement. Zelenskyy previously said that the US does not support accession.
U.S. President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff believes it is "accepted" that "if there is a peace agreement, Ukraine cannot be a member of NATO." He said this in an interview with American propagandist Tucker Carlson, UNN reports.

"Regarding NATO, I think that Zelensky, and he has a right hand, Yermak, I think they have largely acknowledged that they are not going to be a member of NATO," Witkoff said.
Witkoff noted that there was all sorts of talk about possibly extending the principle of collective defense under Article 5 of the NATO treaty to Ukraine.
According to him, the issue of providing Ukraine with such protection by the United States or European countries remains a subject of discussion.
"I think it's open for discussion. But I think it is accepted that if there is a peace agreement, Ukraine cannot be a member of NATO. I think it's basically accepted," Witkoff said.
Addition
President Zelensky stated that the United States does not support Ukraine's accession to NATO, and removing the issue of accession from negotiations is a great gift to the Russians.
