Donald Trump has endorsed Hungary's new leader, Péter Magyar, after his victory. Magyar is preparing for the transfer of power and plans to stop state propaganda.

US President Donald Trump called the leader of the winning party in the Hungarian elections, Péter Magyar, a "good man," despite having previously actively campaigned for Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, reports the BBC, writes UNN.

"I think the new person is going to do a good job," Trump told ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl, having previously urged Hungarians to "go out and vote" for his friend and close ally Orbán.
Meanwhile, Péter Magyar, the man who ended Viktor Orbán's 16-year rule, arrived on Wednesday for a meeting with the Hungarian president, seeking a swift transfer of power after a convincing victory on Sunday.
President Tamás Sulyok, who refused to comply with Magyar's demand for resignation, is expected to nominate Magyar as the next prime minister. Magyar stated that he needs to be in office until approximately May 5.
The next prime minister of Hungary appeared on public radio and television for the first time in 18 months on Wednesday and clearly stated his intention to suspend such news coverage, which he condemned as propaganda.
Magyar arrived for talks at the presidential palace shortly before 10:00 local time. Two other party leaders with MPs in parliament, including Orbán, were also invited to the meeting with the president.
Magyar broke with Orbán's party in March 2024 and in two years gained widespread support for his Tisza party, which on Sunday unseated the ruling Fidesz party, gaining a so-called two-thirds supermajority in parliament.
He stated that 70-80% of Hungarian media had been seized by Orbán's allies, who insulted him and his party with 300 lies daily, preventing him from appearing on state television even once.
