russian defense ministry confirmed the crash of a military IL-76 that crashed during takeoff from an airfield in the Ivanovo region for a routine flight.
There were eight crew members and seven passengers on board. All of them were killed, five bodies have already been found at the crash site, while the rest were inside the plane, which continues to burn.
The cause of the disaster was the fire of one of the engines during takeoff of the airplane, which, tentatively, occurred due to a technical malfunction. It is reported that the smoke appeared in the engine immediately after leaving the ground, then the engine caught fire and part of it fell off in the air. The plane tried to return to the airfield, but reached and collapsed in a forest clearing a couple of kilometers from the place of takeoff.
