The Telegraph: The US may issue an ultimatum to Kyiv - either a peace agreement with Putin, or loss of support

Zelenskyy will not allow capitulation, but Putin hopes for Trump for a diplomatic victory. Ukraine is threatened with an ultimatum: peace on Putin's terms or loss of US support.

As long as Volodymyr Zelenskyy remains at the helm in Kyiv, there will be no Ukrainian capitulation either to Moscow or to Washington. But Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is counting on being able to use US President Donald Trump's need for international approval to achieve diplomatic victories that his troops have not achieved on the battlefield. This is stated in a material by The Telegraph columnist Daniel Johnson entitled "Trump is counting on a quick peace deal with Ukraine, and Putin is rubbing his hands", UNN reports.

According to the author, the "peace" talks that have been taking place in Saudi Arabia for several weeks are seen in the Kremlin as a smokescreen rather than a serious dialogue.
The enemies do not even communicate with each other directly, but only through intermediaries, mostly American. This allows the American delegation not only to control the flow of information, but also to tip the scales in favor of Moscow
According to the author, the question now is whether Russia has "all the cards," as Trump himself likes to say, or whether Ukrainians are more resilient than they might seem at first glance.
However, Ukraine is most likely to face an ultimatum: either sign a peace agreement brokered by Trump and dictated by Putin, or permanently lose America's intelligence and logistical support
At the same time, according to his observations, Zelenskyy still believes that a ceasefire can be agreed without harming Ukraine.
"If so, then NATO member states – especially the US – are obliged to abide by it. But the real test of any ceasefire should be whether Ukraine is still standing, defiant and unbowed, even a year later," the author summarizes.
Reminder
Next week, Ukraine will send a group to the United States to negotiate a new draft agreement on rare earth minerals. This was announced by First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko. According to her, the delegation from Kyiv will include representatives of the Ministries of Economy, Foreign Affairs, Justice and Finance.
