The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained what decisions Ukraine expects from its partners amid the DPRK military's participation in the war
Kyiv • UNN
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has voiced key expectations from Western partners regarding military assistance. Among them is permission for long-range strikes against russia and the shooting down of enemy missiles by neighboring states.
Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga said that Ukraine expects concrete decisions from its Western allies that can help in the war against russia, especially against the backdrop of the DPRK military's participation in the war. In particular, we are talking about long-range strikes, shooting down russian drones and missiles by neighboring states, building up the defense industry and supplying air defense systems. Sibiga said this during a joint press conference with German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock, UNN reports.
The assistance of the West, our closest allies, is not about charity, it is an investment in our common transatlantic security. Therefore, it is very important that the steps that need to be taken are also taken in a timely manner. So that we do not allow the loss of our territories, so that we do not continue to lose our people, so that we become self-sufficient in some areas. It is very important to convert these decisions into concrete positions, and they are quite clear, and we bring them to the capitals of our allies every day
He emphasized that the first decision Ukraine expects is the lifting of any restrictions on the use of long-range weapons.
This is our just right. I mean the use of long-range weapons on the territory of Russia, against military targets
The second solution is to shoot down russian drones and missiles over the territory of Ukraine with the air defense systems of neighboring states.
russia is provoking, it is testing the reaction of NATO countries, it is testing NATO systems. Our proposal and call is to finally make this decision
The next solution is to increase assistance to Ukrainian capabilities and the defense industry.
This has been said many times before, but I will repeat it once again: Ukraine has managed to increase its own production of various types of weapons sixfold since the start of the full-scale invasion. This is also about time and saving money for our allies, because scaling up our production of drones, artillery shells, or artillery systems will help us become stronger and more self-sufficient, and will save money for our allies
In addition, according to him, air defense remains a fundamental priority for Ukraine.
Additional air defense equipment to protect our main cities, to protect nuclear facilities on the territory of Ukraine. Let me remind you that we have evidence that russia is preparing attacks on nuclear infrastructure, so we must protect them, and the world must respond firmly to prevent this
