Law enforcers should open criminal proceedings against ARMA for delaying the sale of Medvedchuk's yacht. The expert considers ARMA a criminal organization created for a corrupt state.

Law enforcement officers should open criminal proceedings and conduct an investigation into the activities of the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA), in particular, because of the delay in the sale of the yacht of former MP Viktor Medvedchuk. This opinion was expressed in an exclusive commentary to UNN by security expert Serhiy Shabovta.

Context

Recently, it became known that ARMA will not be able to sell the yacht of former MP Viktor Medvedchuk, suspected of treason. This situation has arisen, in particular, because the new ARMA leadership has allowed delays in this process and started selling the Royal Romance yacht only on March 20, 2024, almost 2 years after the arrest. Such actions on the part of the ARMA leadership suggest that they intentionally or not helped Medvedchuk to regain this asset.

According to the expert, the new head of the ARMA, Olena Duma, has not changed anything in the agency's work.

I am convinced that we need to open a case and find out what is going on in the ARMA, how much money that should have gone to the state budget was stolen using this tool,

- Shabovta believes.

In his opinion, the ARMA is a criminal organization created for a corrupt state.

The activities of this organization need to be reviewed in principle. Confiscation of property exists in any state. It is a form of fighting crime, and so on. In any civilized country. But the very procedure for confiscating this property, entering it into the register, its further fate - all the mechanisms are set up in such a way that they are stretching their own money for a penny,

- the expert noted.

The ARMA even tried to hide its fiasco with the yacht by publishing news of the successful sale of one buggy and one ATV belonging to Medvedchuk. However, ARMA sold the buggy and ATV for UAH 920,000, while the yacht is estimated at almost UAH 8.5 billion.
