Severe storms in the Baltic States and Poland left tens of thousands of people without electricity. In Lithuania and Poland, casualties were reported, infrastructure was damaged, and Latvia experienced record rainfall.

In Lithuania on Monday, more than 150 thousand consumers were left without electricity. In Vilnius, a tree fell on a passerby, who was killed, reports LRT. Some flights were canceled, and Lithuanian railways reported delays due to the weather.

A storm in Latvia has damaged the roof of the cathedral in Riga, Vice Mayor Edvardas Ratnieks said on Monday. The cathedral square in the Latvian capital is temporarily closed to the public until the threat is over.
Earlier, the Latvian Center for Environment, Geology and Meteorology issued an orange warning for rain and wind in the central part of the country. At the same time, the highest level of red warning is for Riga and its surroundings.
