Slovenia to purchase IRIS-T air defense system from Germany

Slovenia will purchase the IRIS-T air defense system from Germany after joining the Sky Shield initiative, and the deal for the two systems is worth about 200 million euros.
Slovenia will purchase the German air defense system IRIS-T SLM manufactured by Diehl Defense GmbH. This was announced by the Ministry of Defense of Slovenia, reports Euractiv, according to UNN.
Details
The agreement was concluded after Slovenia joined the European initiative launched by Germany, which currently includes 19 countries. 19 countries are currently members.
У August, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed within the framework of the European initiative, which will create a basis for joint public procurement of air defense systems. Slovenia signed an agreement with Germany on December 6.
Details of the of the plan are not disclosed, but Delo reported that it is about two IRIS-T systems worth about 200 million euros.

IRIS-T - are systems of the "surface-to-air systems with a range of up to 40 kilometers, which can hit targets at altitudes up to 20,000 meters. Germany has supplied Ukraine with two such systems.
