"Analysis of the content of the killer's mobile phone confirmed systematic preparation for a mass shooting. The found video recordings captured how he practiced at home the skills of quickly bringing weapons to combat readiness and aimed shooting. He accompanied his actions with aggressive monologues: calling people 'pigs' whom he would 'liquidate,' using hate speech against Ukrainians, shouting Nazi greetings, and calling for violence on ideological grounds. The offender showed particular animosity toward his neighbor, whom he disparagingly called 'director of the sixth.' He was the first victim of the attack," - Prosecutor General reported. "Holosiiv shooter."
According to the Prosecutor General, he had previously been held criminally liable but owned two registered carbines and a traumatic pistol. Chronology of the tragedy
In his post, Prosecutor General Kravchenko provides the chronology of the events of that day, as reconstructed by the investigation.
According to the investigation, the 'trigger' for the tragedy on April 18 was another argument over the intercom, which the killer had personally repaired, but afterward some residents could not enter the building.
During the conflict near the entrance, the attacker first opened fire with traumatic weapons, injuring several people. When the ammunition ran out, he threw away the pistol, went up to his apartment, took firearms, set the premises on fire, and returned to the street, where he continued shooting.
Near the building, the shooter killed a neighbor and a taxi driver. He also injured the son of the first deceased, his wife, her sister, and a janitor who shielded a child with his body. Later, the sister and the janitor died from the fatal wounds received.
The offender recorded his actions on audio. After the first murders, the man, moving toward the supermarket, continued to fire and shot dead two more people. At the same time, he selectively warned some passersby to run away, 'because there will be shooting now.'
In the store, the attacker walked between the rows, threatened people with weapons, and shot a worker. In addition, five more people were injured in the store.
Having barricaded himself with hostages, he addressed an employee of the currency exchange point demanding that she immediately leave the cash register and call a representative for negotiations. The man threatened to shoot through the doors and kill the woman if she refused. He was not interested in the money, shouting: "Get out of the cash register, I won't take your dollars."
"He justified all his actions as 'self-defense' against an alleged group attack by four people near the entrance, claiming that 'youngsters along with bitches came at him.' He appealed to his military experience and rank of major, stating that he 'could no longer tolerate it.' At the same time, he demonstrated extreme cynicism, commenting on the neighbor's murder: 'He's already a corpse, his brains are lying there,'" - Prosecutor General Kravchenko said.
Final conclusions regarding the motives, mental state, and sanity of the shooter at the time of the crime will be made after the completion of posthumous forensic psychological and psychiatric examinations.
