The Investigative Committee of Russia has confirmed the death of Russian Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov and his assistant as a result of an explosion in Moscow. This was reported by the Russian media, UNN reports.

Investigative authorities have officially confirmed that the explosion in Moscow killed the head of the chemical defense troops, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov and his assistant.

The SBU had served Kirillov with a suspicion a day earlier. It is alleged that he is responsible for the use of chemical weapons against the Ukrainian Armed Forces. On his orders, more than 4.8 thousand cases of the use of chemical munitions at the front were recorded.
According to his biography, Kirillov participated in the creation and adoption of the TOS-2 Tosochka heavy flamethrower system by the Russian army, as well as in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. He is also known for his briefings, where, according to The Insider, he told fakes about American biolabs in Ukraine and Kyiv's plans to create a "dirty bomb." The military man was on the sanctions lists.

The explosion occurred after the detonation of an explosive device at 6 a.m. near house 2 on Ryazansky Avenue in Nizhny Novgorod district, which resulted in shattered windows in nearby apartments.
