Russia promises to punish those responsible for the crash of the Azerbaijani Embraer - Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General's Office has announced cooperation with Russia in the investigation of the Embraer 190 plane crash. Investigators from four countries are conducting a large-scale investigation into the causes of the crash.

Azerbaijan's prosecutor's office said on Monday that Russia has said it is working to identify and punish those involved in the downing of the Azerbaijani airliner.

According to Azerbaijan, on December 25, investigative measures are underway in the criminal case initiated in connection with the crash of the Embraer 190 aircraft on the Baku-Grozny flight.

On behalf of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev has been in intensive contact with Berik Asylov, the Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan, Igor Krasnov, the Prosecutor General of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, and the Attorney General of Brazil, Paulo Gonçalo, regarding the incident since that day.

To ensure a comprehensive, objective and complete investigation of the incident at the Khabela crash site, large-scale investigative work was carried out with the participation of professional investigators and specialists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Brazil.

Kamran Aliyev exchanged views with his Kazakh counterpart Berik Asylov on the correct legal assessment of the collected evidence of the incident, inspection of the crash site, collection of preliminary evidence in the case and investigation of other important issues, as well as jointly conducting the necessary investigation and due process, and discussed the details of the incident. He expressed his gratitude for the comprehensive support provided to fully identify those involved in the crash.

During the meeting with Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office noted that Azerbaijani prosecutors working in Grozny provided the necessary support to their Russian counterparts in the investigation of the criminal case and the exchange of evidence between the two sides.

The head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, called Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev and set up an investigation team of professional investigators and experts to conduct a full, comprehensive and objective investigation of the criminal case under investigation in Russia.

The causes and circumstances of the incident were thoroughly investigated, including possible external interference in the crash. In a statement, the prosecutor's office said that the perpetrators would be brought to justice. The Prosecutor General's Office also promised to regularly inform the public about the progress of the investigation.

Subsequently, Ukraine called for a fair and impartial investigation into the crash.

Zelenskyy  ordered to transfer Ukrainian intelligence data on the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane, commenting on the crash, said that “terrorist acts of Ukrainian drones” were committed at the time of the crash.
