Russia massively opens cases on bribery in the army due to unwillingness to fight in Ukraine - DIU

In Russia, the number of criminal cases of bribery in the army has increased dramatically. This is due to the growing number of military personnel who want to avoid participating in the war against Ukraine.
Russia has started registering criminal proceedings on bribery in the army on a massive scale amid an increase in the number of people willing to leave the service and avoid death in the war against Ukraine. This is reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, UNNreports.
The army of the aggressor state of Russia is facing increasing problems with its personnel: the number of people willing to leave the service and avoid death in the war waged against Ukraine is growing. This is evidenced, in particular, by a sharp rise in registered criminal proceedings on bribery in the Russian army
According to Ukrainian intelligence, in the southern military district of the Russian Armed Forces alone, the number of criminal cases opened for illegal dismissal for health reasons and illegal leave has tripled in the first five months of this year.
Almost half of these proceedings are being investigated against the occupants of the 8th Combined Arms Army of the Russian Federation. Another 36% are related to Russia's 58th Combined Arms Army, whose commander was arrested on suspicion of corruption this spring, the GUR said.
More than one hundred proceedings opened against officials of military units of the southern military district of the Russian Federation concern bribery for granting leave from the combat zone.
Among them:
- 38 cases - against the soldiers of the 102nd motorized rifle regiment (fighting in the area of Chasovyi Yar);
- 35 cases concerning the 71st motorized rifle regiment (located on the border with Sumy region);
- 33 cases are related to the 49th Brigade of the 49th Army.
Another 43 proceedings investigate bribery for recognizing the Russian occupiers as having limited fitness.
The DIU emphasized: the level of corruption in the Russian army has always been high, but previously such cases of bribery were not paid attention to.
“Fixing the relevant episodes in the form of criminal cases may indicate an increase in the level of demoralization of the personnel of the occupation forces and a threatening tendency for Moscow to escape from the Russian army by any means,” Ukrainian intelligence believes.
