Russia has not yet established a mixed medical commission to visit prisoners of war, although Ukraine did so in the summer of 2023. The commission is supposed to determine the health status of prisoners and facilitate the repatriation of seriously wounded.
Russia has not yet formed a mixed medical commission to visit prisoners of war. This was reported by the representative of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War Petro Yatsenko during a press conference, UNN reports.
Back in the summer of 2023, a mixed medical commission was established on the Ukrainian side to visit prisoners of war and determine their health condition, which does not allow them to be held in detention conditions, prisoner of war camps. A similar commission was supposed to be established in Russia in accordance with the agreements signed by the aggressor country under the Third Geneva Convention. We cooperated on this issue with the Red Cross Committee
However, according to him, the second important part of mixed medical commissions is still missing - a similar commission in Russia.

The task of mixed medical commissions is to inspect the health of prisoners and send seriously ill and severely wounded prisoners under the care of a third country or repatriate them to their country of origin.
In January 2023, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets , reportedthat he had discussed with the Russian Ombudsman, Tatyana Moskalkova, the possible return of seriously wounded servicemen and prisoners of war from both sides.
