The Romanian Chamber of Deputies automatically approved a bill on unification with Moldova after the review period expired. The document has been sent to the Senate, which will make the final decision.

The Chamber of Deputies of Romania silently approved the draft law on the unification of the country with Moldova after the expiration of the review period stipulated by the Constitution. The document has now been sent to the Senate, which will make the final decision, reports UNN citing Digi24.
Details
The legislative initiative was introduced by deputies of the SOS Romania party on April 14. At the same time, the Romanian government, as well as the legal committee and the human rights committee of the Chamber of Deputies, issued negative opinions on the document. Since the parliament did not hold debates and a vote within the established 45-day period, the draft law is considered automatically approved and sent to the upper house of parliament.
The document proposes that the Romanian parliament adopt a decision on unification with the Republic of Moldova. The authors also refer to the provisions of the Helsinki Final Act of the OSCE, which allows for the change of state borders through peaceful and diplomatic means.
The government must start negotiations with Chisinau
The draft law authorizes the Romanian government to immediately begin negotiations with the authorities of Moldova regarding the possible unification of the two states. After the law enters into force, it provides for informing international partners, including the United States, NATO, the European Union, and the United Nations.
The final fate of the legislative initiative now depends on the decision of the Senate. It is the upper house of the Romanian parliament that has the decisive say on the further consideration of the document.
