Italian coach Roberto Mancini has taken charge of the Italian national football team for the second time. This is reported by the Italian Football Federation, as conveyed by UNN.

Roberto Mancini is the head coach of the national team, Claudio Ranieri will become the new technical director of the Italian Football Federation and president of Club Italia

- the statement reads.

Details

As stated by the federation, having become European champions on July 11, 2021, in addition to the triumph at Wembley over five years at the helm of the national team (from May 2018 to August 2023), Mancini twice reached the final stage of the UEFA Nations League, finishing third in the 2020/2021 and 2022/2023 seasons. As head coach, he also set a record of 37 consecutive matches without defeat in charge of the national team, which was broken just a few days ago by Spain, who defeated Argentina in the World Cup final.

Update

It recently became known that Spanish specialist Pep Guardiola refused to take charge of the Italian national team because he wants to dedicate time to his family.

The Italian Football Federation held negotiations with Andrea Pirlo and had already reached a verbal agreement. However, the Italian Football Federation later withdrew from appointing Pirlo after criticism over his collaboration with the Russian bookmaker company Fonbet.

In addition, Pirlo this year, together with Marco Materazzi, visited the Superfinal of the Russian Cup at the Luzhniki Stadium.

In his time, Pirlo as a coach led Juventus, with whom he won the Italian Cup and Super Cup, and also served as head coach of Sampdoria and Turkish club Karagümrük.

Recall

Former Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane has been confirmed as the new head coach of the French national team.
