On December 28, russian president vladimir putin signed a number of laws that toughen penalties for armed rebellion and crimes against military service, and approved a new strategy for countering extremism, which lists the elimination of threats emanating from the territory of Ukraine as one of the main tasks. This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, UNN reports.

It is noted that now the punishment for armed rebellion and terrorism in Russia will be punishable by 20 years to life imprisonment. Those convicted of this crime will no longer be eligible for parole. In addition, foreign nationals who assist in attempts to undermine russia's security face up to 15 years in prison.

Criminal liability for crimes against military service is introduced for volunteers, including desertion, resistance to superiors and destruction of military property

Particular attention is paid to combating the promotion of the idea of "de-colonization" and the aggravation of the national question. As part of this strategy, russia plans to actively promote the idea of "historical unity of the peoples of the russian Federation".
