Pakistan's PM asks Trump to extend negotiation deadline by two weeks

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who is mediating talks with Iran, has asked US President Donald Trump to extend Iran's ultimatum by two weeks. Sharif wrote about this on the social network X, UNN reports.

Diplomatic efforts aimed at a peaceful resolution of the ongoing war in the Middle East are progressing steadily, resolutely, and powerfully, and have every chance of yielding significant results in the near future. To give diplomacy a chance to run its course, I sincerely ask President Trump to extend the deadline by two weeks. Pakistan, expressing sincere hope, appeals to its Iranian brothers to open the Strait of Hormuz for the same two-week period as a gesture of goodwill.

- Sharif wrote.

He also called on all warring parties to observe a two-week ceasefire on all fronts to give diplomacy a chance to finally end the war in the interest of long-term peace and stability in the region.

In his post, Sharif tagged Trump, US Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff.

Recall

Progress has been made in negotiations between the US and Iran, but a ceasefire agreement before Donald Trump's deadline remains unlikely due to key disagreements between the parties and Tehran's slow response.
