Kirill Bolyukh and Alexey Sereda took 5th place in the synchronized ski jumping from the 10-meter tower at the Olympics in Paris. The athletes admitted that they were disappointed with the result, but remain optimistic.
Ukrainian athletes Kirill Bolyukh and Oleksiy Sereda took fifth place in the men's synchronized diving from the 10-meter tower, UNN reports with reference to the NOC.
According to the NOC, this is currently the highest position for the Ukrainian national team at the Paris Games in the sports where medals were awarded.
"I made a 5-point mistake on my fifth jump. It was insignificant, but it was still enough for the judges to lower my score. And the other jumps, of course, could have been done better. As for the fairness of the judging, I can't say for sure because I haven't watched my jumps yet. But I feel like they evaluated me normally, and I can't say that they underestimated anything - it was my mistake in the fifth jump," said Oleksiy Sereda.

"There was some excitement before the Olympics, as I expected. But it was not that strong. I did everything I could, what the coaches told me to do. But the result is on the scoreboard," commented Kirill Bolyukh, an Olympic debutant.
Both athletes said they were disappointed with the result. However, the guys remain optimistic, and Oleksiy Sereda even managed to joke: "It's impossible to compete with the Chinese. Unfortunately, I don't see any way to overtake them yet," the athlete commented on the Chinese team's dominance in diving and noted, "We need to add one more jump to score the same amount of points as them: they jump 6, and we jump 7.
