"Manchester United has acquired the land necessary for the construction of a new 100,000-seat stadium, marking an important milestone in the implementation of the long-term concept for the transformation of the Old Trafford area," the club statement reads.
It is claimed that the new stadium, which will become the largest sports arena in Great Britain, will serve as a catalyst for the regeneration of the surrounding area, contributing to the creation of one of the most dynamic and globally significant sports and entertainment centers.
"The club has acquired a 25-acre (10 hectares - ed.) plot, located approximately 350 meters northwest of the current stadium, from 'Indurent' - a leading provider of industrial space and a company in the 'Blackstone' portfolio. 'United' will work directly with businesses affected by these plans to support them during the transition period," the club stated.
The club emphasized that the management has also worked closely with Trafford Council and the Mayor's Old Trafford Regeneration and Development Corporation to ensure the location of the new stadium aligns with the overall regeneration strategy for the Old Trafford area, guaranteeing optimal transport accessibility and the best possible experience for fans.
The 370-acre (140 hectares - ed.) redevelopment project is expected to allow for the construction of around 15,000 new homes, including affordable housing, create 48,000 new jobs locally and over 90,000 nationally, and bring over £7 billion per year to the UK economy.
According to Bloomberg, the construction of the new stadium will cost Manchester United $2 billion.
