Ukraine's Foreign Ministry categorically rejects the accusations by Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN that the GRU is involved in supporting rebels in Syria. The Ministry emphasizes that Russia and Iran are responsible for the deterioration of the security situation in the region.

Ukraine's Foreign Ministry rejects the accusations of Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzi, that the country's intelligence service is involved in supporting rebels in Syria. UNN reports this with reference to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine categorically rejects the groundless accusations of the Russian Federation  against Ukraine of alleged involvement in the deterioration of the security situation in Syria. Ukraine, unlike Russia, unconditionally adheres to international law and the principles of inviolability of sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs once again emphasized that it is Moscow, together with Tehran, that bears the main responsibility for the steady deterioration of the security situation in Syria, and it is the Assad regime's crimes against its own people and its unwillingness to ensure a fair dialogue within the country that have threatened the survival of Syria as a single independent state.

Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, said during a UN Security Council meeting the day before that Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate was allegedly helping rebels from the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham movement.
