The New York City Police Department told the Associated Press early Saturday that the man was pronounced dead by staff at a local hospital.
A 37-year-old man set himself on fire in a park on Friday. It happened when Donald Trump's trial was taking place.
Throughout Friday, the streets and sidewalks around the courthouse were generally open, and crowds were small and largely orderly.
Authorities said they are also reviewing security protocols, including whether to restrict access to the park. The side street where Trump enters and leaves the building is blocked.
