Leadership of the Odesa Pre-trial Detention Center suspended following the emergence of a video showing the abuse of an inmate

The institution's leadership was suspended due to a video where a prisoner was forced to pretend to be a dog. The State Penitentiary Service has launched an investigation into the violation of human rights.

The State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine has launched an internal investigation into a possible violation of the rights of an individual held in the Odesa Pre-trial Detention Center. This was reported by the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine, according to UNN.
The management of the pre-trial detention center has been suspended from their duties for the duration of the investigation. Additionally, a team consisting of senior officials from the Department for the Execution of Criminal Sentences has been dispatched to the Odesa Pre-trial Detention Center to investigate the possible human rights violation and to objectively clarify all circumstances of the incident,
The Service noted that they launched the investigation after a video appeared on social media showing illegal acts being committed against a citizen by individuals sharing his cell. The man is being forced to pretend to be a dog.
The Penitentiary Service also emphasized that the investigation will be conducted within the timeframes established by law, and its results will be made public.
