Elite units of the Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) conducted searches in the homes of politicians and high-ranking officials in the well-fortified Green Zone of Baghdad early Sunday morning and made several arrests, sources who declined to be named because they are not authorized to speak to the media on sensitive matters said.
AFP notes that Iraq's new Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has promised to intensify the fight against corruption and is preparing for a visit to the United States, where he will discuss security issues, economic cooperation, and American investments, among other topics.
