Head of Dnipro Motor Carriers Trade Union Found Dead: Two Men Detained on Suspicion of Murder

Police detained two men on suspicion of murdering Mykhailo Tonkonohyi, head of the Dnipro Motor Carriers Trade Union. The activist's body with gunshot wounds was found in a forest belt after his disappearance.
Law enforcers detained two men on suspicion of murdering a public activist, the head of the Dnipro Motor Carriers Trade Union, Mykhailo Tonkonohyi. UNN reports this with reference to the regional police.
Law enforcement officials have not named the deceased, but according to Suspilne , it is Mykhailo Tonkonohyi.
On July 23, the police received a report of a 32-year-old man going missing, who had left home in a Škoda Octavia. The next day, his body with gunshot wounds was found in a forest near one of Dnipro's garden associations.
On July 22, the defendants agreed to meet with the victim. A conflict arose between them, as a result of which the two men shot the public activist. After the crime, the perpetrators threw the weapon into a pond, buried the body in a forest, and drove his car to a rented garage
Two men were detained: A 39-year-old resident of Slobozhanske village and a 23-year-old resident of Dnipro.
The two were served notices of suspicion under p. 12, Part 2, Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (premeditated murder committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons). They face 10 to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment. Investigative measures are ongoing to establish all the circumstances and motives of the crime.
