The German state of Hesse will not issue documents for Ukrainian men of military age to travel abroad. The authorities believe that they can return to Ukraine to obtain a passport and perform military service.

The federal state of Hesse in Germany will not issue Ukrainian men of mobilization age a document for traveling abroad that replaces a foreign passport. This is evidenced by the response of the local Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs to the request of the Alternative for Germany party, DW reports, UNN writes.

Hessian foreign affairs offices will generally not issue Ukrainian men of mobilization age with German ID cards to replace documents for traveling abroad. Ukrainians are able to travel to Ukraine to obtain a passport and perform military service,

According to official data, about 20 thousand Ukrainian citizens of mobilization age between 18 and 60 years live in Hesse. On April 23, Ukrainian consulates stopped issuing passports for this category of citizens abroad.
